New Forms and Power/Strength Development Day
Having missed my class at ATA Anthem to wait for the garage door repair guy, I was obliged to practice my form at home. Good thing for thorough instructional videos with that dig-it-groovy muzak. So I practiced Songham #4 and #5 a few times after a thorough warm-up, and then moved into some strength/power work with kettlebells, my homemade 'Clubbell' and the garage pull-up bar. Basically. You can see the first part of my warm-up for any workout here.
In addition to this, I practiced the forms with wrist weights on, just for the hell of it. The next part of the workout was supposed to go like this:
Practice one step sparring for one-minute and follow with:
-Pull-ups
-One or Two-handed 20lb. Clubbell mills (for 30 seconds or 10-12 reps each side, whichever was longer.)
-45 lb. Kettlebell Swings (for 30 seconds or 20 reps, whichever was longer)
It sorda went like that. I kept moving but not exactly in that order. Since I didn't time myself I stuck with reps, and the sets went from 6-12 reps with the 'Clubbell' and 12-20 reps with the Kettlebell. Total rounds was approximately four. I finished up with some leg raises and then it was time to write this quick post and be on my way.
By the way, Clubbell mills are great for developing power through the range of a throwing motion. Check out the video below for instruction:
Check back soon, we'll be cooking up some TaeKwonDoe legs of steel!
